The Mobile Symphonic Pops Band is proud to be under the leadership of David Dueitt!

David Dueitt served in the United States Marine Corp from 1972-1975.  After serving in the Marines he attended the University of Alabama, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1978. Following graduation he served as assistant band director at Fayette High School in Fayette, Alabama (1978) and Shaw High School in Mobile, Alabama (1980-1986). Dueitt then returned to the University of Alabama, obtaining his Master's of Music in 1988.  During this time he served as Graduate Assistant for the University of Alabama in 1987-88.  After Dueitt graduated with his Master's Degree he became the Director of Bands at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, a position he held from 1988 until his retirement in 2009. 

Over the course of his career he has served as an adjudicator for countless concert and marching band competitions and directed numerous All-State and County Honor Bands in both Alabama and Mississippi.  Awards and Recognition include:  recipient of the M.O. Beale Scroll of Merit, nominated for Alabama Teacher’s Hall of Fame (1985), candidate for the “Teacher in Space” program (1986), received Mayor of Mobile proclamations for the Shaw High School Band (1983 and 1984), and was selected as Teacher of the Year at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 1996.
